The City of Satellite Beach continues to closely monitor the spread of the Coronavirus/COVID-19  while following the guidelines set  forth by the Governor of Florida and the CDC as well as recommendations from the National Recreation & Park Association and Florida Parks & Recreation Association. 

Please note as we continue to adapt to any changes in COVID-19 guidelines, the most current information about City of Satellite Beach Recreation events, event cancellations, postponements, and other changes will be posted on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/SatelliteBeachRecreation/  and this page.

Satellite Beach Farmers Market
Our Farmers Market will be reopening on Thursday, June 4th at Pelican Beach Park, 1525 Hwy A1-A, from 10am – 4pm. Our vendors provide items that are all hand crafted or grown including produce, spices, local artwork, honey, hand crafted jewelry, soaps, wood art and more! September 01 – 30     International Coastal Cleanup
Each year, in partnership with the Ocean Conservancy, Keep Brevard Beautiful hosts the International Coastal Cleanup. This year’s cleanup will be a little different due to safety concerns regarding COVID-19. Volunteers will be able to host their own individual, family, or small groups (less than 10 people) cleanups all throughout the month of September, virtually!
Virtual cleanups allow volunteers to register, check-in, and submit data through the KBB app. KBB will provide volunteers with gloves and bags to help facilitate a productive cleanup event. Supply pickup will be available at the DRS Community Center starting Friday September 11th. Supplies may be picked up from 9am-4pm M-F or by appointment. September 14 – 19      Story Walk – Ned the Knitting Pirate
Brevard County's Satellite Beach Library and Play Satellite Beach present "Ned the Knitting Pirate" Story Walk. This is a fun and free event for families. You are invited to stroll the walking path of the Satellite Beach Sports & Recreation Park (beside the library). Pages from the book will be posted on signs throughout your walk. Stop by the library during normal hours of operation to pick up a pirate themed take home craft. We will also share fun videos including a pirate themed STEAM activity featuring catapults!! Story signs will be available Monday, September 14 through Saturday, September 19 from 9 AM to 4 PM daily. This event takes place outside. Please make sure to prepare for a short outdoor walk. Please practice social distancing while participating.

September 19      International Talk LIke A Pirate Day
Arrrgh!!!! Visit our Story Walk on Saturday September 19th from 10am -12pm to celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day! We will have a meet and greet with a local piarate and his trusty parrot! Photo opportunities are FREE and are socially distanced. Don't forget to pick up your take home pirate themed craft.

September 27     National Drive Electric Car Show (Virtual Event)
This online event is completely free to the public and will include a virtual test drive. This event is hosted in conjunction with the City of Cape Canaveral in coordinated with the Space Coast EV Drivers Club, a local EV enthusiasts club that currently contains over 100 vehicles and members who are dedicated to electric vehicle education, and the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE). SACE is a non-profit, nonpartisan energy watchdog group based in the Southeastern United States. October 12 -16      Story Walk – Creepy Carrots
Brevard County's Satellite Beach Library and Play Satellite Beach present "Creepy Carrots” Story Walk. This is a fun and free event for families. You are invited to stroll the walking path of the Satellite Beach Sports & Recreation Park (beside the library). Pages from the book will be posted on signs throughout your walk. Stop by the library during normal hours of operation to pick up a take home craft. We will also share fun videos including STEAM activity. Story signs will be available Monday, October 12 through Saturday, October 17 from 9 AM to 4 PM daily. This event takes place outside. Please make sure to prepare for a short outdoor walk. October 17      Movie on the Green – Hocus Pocus (PG)
Join us on Saturday, October 17 at DRS Community Center for a FREE Movie on the Green featuring Hocus Pocus (PG). Purchase dinner from one of our local Food Trucks starting at 6pm. Bring your own blanket or lawn chairs and settle in for a fun night under the stars. Movie begins at 8pm, please plan to arrive by 7:30 p.m. to pick your spot.Due to Covid-19 protocols and precautions, reservations are required to ensure social distancing. There will be a limited number of 10' x 10' "family green spaces" available on a first-come-first-serve basis so get your reservations early! Registration begins Monday, October 5 at 9 AM by calling 321-773-6458.

October 26 - November 06     Story Walk – Duck for President 
Brevard County's Satellite Beach Library and Play Satellite Beach present "Duck for President” Story Walk. This is a fun and free event for families. You are invited to stroll the walking path of the Satellite Beach Sports & Recreation Park (beside the library). Pages from the book will be posted on signs throughout your walk. Stop by the library during normal hours of operation to pick up a take home craft. We will also share fun videos and activities. Make sure to follow Play Satellite Beach and Brevard Librarieson Facebook to join the FUN and vote for your favorite animal for President! Story signs for "Duck for President" by Doreen Croninwill be available Monday, October 26 through Friday, November 6 from 9 AM to 4 PM daily. This event takes place outside. Please make sure to prepare for a short outdoor walk. Please practice social distancing while participating.

November 07     Kids Dig Gardening
Join in the fun at the Satellite Beach Community Garden for the Second Annual Kids Dig Gardening Program (Nov. 7) from 9 am-11:00 am Youth between the ages 6-16yrs will learn about basic gardening and composting, and take home a starter garden set. Raffles to benefit the Kids Dig Gardening Program! Pre-registration is online at playsatellitebeach.org for $7, or stop into the Satellite Beach Recreation Department or call 321-773-6458. The Community Garden located at the backside of Desoto Sports Complex (behind the tennis /racquetball courts) 499 Desoto Pkwy in Satellite Beach.

November 21      Movie on the Green – Free Birds (PG)
Join us on Saturday, November 21st at DRS Community Center for a FREE Movie on the Green featuring Free Birds (PG), an animated film featuring two turkeys from opposite sides of the tracks must put aside their differences and team up to travel back in time to change the course of history, and get Turkeys off the Thanksgiving menu for good. Purchase dinner from one of our local Food Trucks starting at 6pm. December 07-12     Twilight Santa 
The Satellite Beach Fire Rescue and Paramedic Services along with the reserve firefighter organization proudly present their Annual “Twilight Santa”. Bringing cheer and happiness to people of all ages during the holiday season by parading Santa atop a brightly decorated fire truck through the streets of our community.

This race is part of the Running Zone’s Race Series to benefit Satellite High School Running Programs. Lots of fun for everyone beginning at the Satellite Beach Library.
