Samsons Island

The Indian River Lagoon has many spoil islands, but none as beautiful as Samsons Island. In the early 1990’s, city volunteers began work to eradicate exotic plants, introduce native vegetation, and provide park amenities such as picnic areas and grills. Just like any other nature park, maintenance efforts are on going and the City continually welcomes volunteers to assist with these duties.

This island is only accessible by boat. There are docks on the south, east, and north sides of Samsons Island for use by boaters. The City offers free boat transportation each Sunday, leaving at 1pm. It is requested that all passengers meet at the main dock at approximately 3pm for the return trip to the Satellite Beach Fire Department, located at 1390 South Patrick Drive, Satellite Beach. There is a limit as to the number of of spaces available are reservations are required. Call 321-773-6458 to reserve your spot!

A permit is required if visitors are on the island after dusk.

The island park offers visitors outdoor activities such as bird watching, walking the park’s nature trails, and picnicking. Volunteers are always welcome, contact the Satellite Beach Recreation Department to find out how you can help.

We have exciting volunteer opportunities available on the island in March and April.
