The Communications Center operates 24 hours a day.The Center employs 1 full-time Communications Supervisor, 4 full-time Communications Officers and 7 part-time Communications Officers. The Center receives all requests for police, fire and medical services, emergency or non-emergency.
The Department provides an intensive 12 week training program where the Communications Trainee is paired with an experienced trainer who evaluates him or her daily on areas such as; appearance, attitude, job knowledge, performance, and interdepartmental relationships.

Do you have trouble hearing over the phone? Florida Telecommunication Relay, Inc., provides specialized telephone equipment at no cost to Floridians with hearing loss or speech disabilities. We offer a large inventory of amplified phones, ring signalers, text telephones and more. Free training on how to use the equipment is available too. To qualify, you must be a permanent Florida resident, at least 3 years of age and able to provide proof of hearing loss or speech disability.
