Bird Watching 101

Ages: Adults  Take the opportunity to tour Samsons Island with avid birdwatcher and volunteer naturalist Richard Santangelo – half of the tour will be by boat and the other on the island. Free public boat transportation leaves from the SB Fire Dept. dock. Due to boat size – limited to the first 11 enrollees.  (Bring your binoculars if you have them! Don’t forget the bug spray, drinking water and walking/hiking shoes)

Fishing Seminars   Ages: 8yrs-Adults 

November 13 @ 7:00pm: Seminar will cover the winter flounder run at Sebastian Inlet.  Learn which times and tides are best whether you are fishing from boat or shore. Educate yourself on the correct way to set up your lines and leaders, and handling of fish for proper release.

March 4 @ 7:00pm: Seminar just for WOMEN! Capt. Badarack will teach how to cast accurately, knot tying, how to set up rigs for live bait and lures, when and where to fish around the Indian and Banana Rivers, as well as along the beach.  Also where to catch tarpon, trout, snook, flounder, and redfish.

Hook Kids on Fishing Program

Ages: 6-16 yrs  Kids (and their parents) will learn about fishing safety, casting, conservation, knot tying, and catch & release fishing. The program ends with the kids fishing with professional guides and expert anglers.  Bring own rods, reels and tackle boxes if you have them; however they will be provided for use if needed.

Catching Made Easy-

Nov 8-Surf Fishing Tour

Capt. Rodney Smith's workshop begins at 8am at the south end of  Satellite Beach's Pelican Park; then caravans south to beach accesses and surf fishing hot spots along the way to discuss the techniques, tactics and fundamentals of surf fishing; with the final destination of Sebastian Inlet State Park's southside around noon.  All students will receive a copy of Rodney's Smith's book, Catching Made Easy

   

Nov 28 or January 3 -On the Water Tour

This "on the water" tour begins at 7am at Conch Key Grille (located on US Hwy 1 about 1 mile north of Pineda Casey in North Melbourne) aboard the DolphinGirl Cruise boat (holds over 30 passengers). The focus of this tour as taught by Capt. Rodney Smith,  will be to share information about tackle, tactics, techniques, and locations for fishing on the Indian and Banana River Lagoons year-round for a wide variety of species including: snook, pompano, tarpon, flounder, redfish, seatrout, grouper, and snapper.

All students will receive a copy of Rodney's Smith's book, Catching Made Easy!  

 

Date tba-Surf Fishing Tour

Capt. Rodney Smith's class is designed to teach the average fly fishing angler the fundamental techniques and tactics to catch snook, tarpon, redfish, spotted seatrout and other inshore and offshore species.  While covering  fly casting, presentation, fly selection and other tips, this class will also take a look at line selection, fish fighting techniques and how to find out where to fish.  Capt. Rodney Smith, a former Federation of Fly Fishers Fly Casting Instructor and IGFA fly fishing world record holder has been fly fishing and guiding on the Indian River Lagoon for over twenty years.  These Fly Fishing Workshops are geared towards all skill levels and everyone attending will learn from them.
