Beachside Police Explorers

Have you ever watched television shows like ‘Cops’, ‘Rescue 911’, ‘Code 3’, or ‘American Detective’ and wondered what it would be like to be actually there? Have you thought about what kind of training police officers go through to do the things they do? Have you thought of belonging to a group that your parents won’t be upset with? Then come live the adventure!

The Beachside Police Explorers are currently accepting applications for membership. What are Explorers? Explorers are a group of young men and women who have an interest in Law Enforcement. These young people have an opportunity through Exploring to encounter the same training, duties, and experiences as real police officers. Exploring is a division of the Boy Scouts of America and is the only co-educational unit of the Boy Scouts. The Beachside Police Explorers are co-sponsored by the Indialantic Police Department and the Satellite Beach Police Department.

What do Explorers Do?

The Explorers meet once a week at one of the police department’s facilities. There the Explorers conduct a business meeting and are given instruction in areas such as Marine Patrol operations, dive rescue, traffic enforcement, and other areas of law enforcement.

The Explorers provide a service to the community by way of traffic control, crowd control, or limited security for charitable organizations and civic events. They also help the community with fund raisers, food drives, and clothing drives.

The Explorers assist the Indialantic Police Department and the Satellite Beach Police Department as well as other local law enforcement agencies with large scale crime scenes, searches for missing persons, Bicycle Enforcement, etc. The Explorers help with Crime Prevention Programs such as ‘Danger Stranger’, ‘Firearms Safety’, ‘Bicycle Safety’, etc.
