BONFIRE SEASON BEGINS NOVEMBER 1, 2019
Recreational beach bonfires have long been part of the culture of Satellite Beach for decades. Per City Ordinance 26-31: outdoor burning shall only be allowed with a permit, that includes ceremonial fires, recreational fires, bonfires and campfires. Bonfire season runs November 1ST through February 28TH. No permits will be issued from March 1ST through October 31ST due to sea turtle nesting season. Permitting for the upcoming bonfire season will begin the last Monday in October.
Several changes have been made to the permitting process for individuals interested in obtaining a bonfire permit. All permits will be issued by the Recreation Department (Located at 1089 S. Patrick Drive, Satellite Beach, FL 32937) on a first come, first serve basis. Permit fees are $50 each, plus a fully refundable security/damage deposit in the amount of $100 per bonfire site, and a signed and notarized hold harmless agreement.
Refunds are available if requested 3 full business days prior to the permit date. A full refund of the permit fee and deposit will be mailed approximately 3 weeks following the notice of cancellation. Refunds requested less than 3 full business days, but still prior to reservation date will result in forfeiture of the permit fee, however, the security/damage deposit will be returned following the notice of cancellation, approximately 3 weeks (if paid by credit card, it will be processed back to the card immediately).
Security/Damage Deposit Refund:
A full refund of your security/damage deposit will be returned to you after your event providing you abided by the bonfire rules and regulations. The security/damage deposit refund will be processed and mailed to you approximately 3 weeks following permitted date or applied directly back to the credit card used to make payment. If your deposit is withheld, you will be notified by the city within 4-5 business days.
