Descriptions of City Boards & Committees
Beautification Board: Plans city beautification projects and submits recommendations to City Council and City staff for approval and implementation, as appropriate.
Membership: 5 members and 2 alternates, 2-year terms
Meetings: 1st Friday @ 9:00 AM @ Council Chambers
Board of Adjustment: Considers and grants variances from City Code provisions; hears and decides appeals from decisions of the City Building Official.
Membership: 5 members and 2 alternates, 3-year terms
Meetings: 1st Monday @ 7:00 PM in Council Chambers
Code Enforcement Board: Conducts hearings on City Code violations, issues findings and determines fines.
Membership: 7 members, 3-year terms
Meetings: 4th Tuesday @ 7:00 PM in Council Chambers
Community Redevelopment Agency Advisory Committee: To provide advisory recommendations to the Redevelopment Agency regarding scope, tasks, and projects for the Redevelopment District to implement the Redevelopment Plan.
Membership: 9 members, 2 alternates, 2-year terms
Meetings: Regular meeting 4th Thursday @ 6:30 PM in Council Chambers
Comprehensive Planning Advisory Board: To develop a comprehensive plan for the City in accordance with the intent of the Local Government Comprehensive Planning and Land Development Act.
Membership: 6 to 12 members, 3-year terms
Meetings: Regular meeting 4th Monday (minimum quarterly) @ 7:00 PM in Council Chambers
General Employee Retirement Plan Board of Trustees: Administers the City's retirement plan.
Membership: 2 employees elected by members of the General Employees Pension Plan and 3 members appointed by City Council, 2-year terms
Meetings: 4th Thursday @ 2:00 PM (at least quarterly) in Council Chambers
Library Board: Plans local library service programs for review by the County Public Library Board.
Membership: 7 members (2 may be non-residents), 2-year terms
Meetings: 2nd Tuesday Jan, Mar, May, July, Sept, & Nov @ 7 PM in Community Room, Satellite Beach Library
Planning & Zoning Advisory Board: Advises the City Council on zoning and land-use issues and site-plan approvals, and acts as the Land Development Regulation Commission.
Membership: 5 members and 2 alternates, 3-year terms
Meetings: 3rd Monday @ 7:00 PM in Council Chambers
Police Officers and Firefighters Retirement Plan Board of Trustees: Administers the City's retirement plan.
Membership: 5 members; 1 Police Officer and 1 Firefighter elected by their respective Pension Plan Members, and 2 residents appointed by City Council, and 1 member elected by the other four members and ministerially approved by Council, 2-year terms
Meetings: 4th Thursday @ 2:00 PM (at least quarterly) in Council Chambers
Recreation Board: Recommends recreation programs and policies to City Council and staff.
Membership: 11 members and 2 alternates, 2-year terms
Meetings: 1st Tuesday @ 6:30 PM @ David R. Schechter Community Center
Samsons Island Nature Park Committee: Manages all aspects of planting, maintenance, and development of the island into a unique passive-recreation park and nature preserve.
Membership: 7 members and 2 alternates, 2-year terms
Meetings: 2nd Tuesday @ 6:00 PM in Council Chambers
