Dave Cocchiarella

Meteorologist


Dave Cocchiarella loves Satellite Beach!  Dave attended Holland Elementary, DeLaura Jr. High and is a 1979 graduate of Satellite High school.  His family still lives in Satellite Beach.  He graduated from the University of Central Florida in Orlando with a degree in journalism.  He went on to earn a certificate of Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.

Dave’s career has taken him from radio to television in cities like El Paso, Texas (KDBC-TV), Tallahassee, Florida (WGLF-FM and WTXL-TV) and a stint as the midday jock on 104.1 FM in Orlando.  Currently Dave is the weekday evening meteorologist for Central Florida News 13 where he has worked since 1998.

Dave is a member of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society and has been awarded the Broadcast Seal of Approval from the AMS and was awarded the Certificate of Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.

A true lover of the outdoors, Dave enjoys surfing, mountain biking and spending time with his wife and two sons.  When reminiscing about Satellite Beach, Dave says, “I can still remember Percy Hedgecock mowing vacant lots with his riding lawn mower”.
