These Satellite Beach residents won one Florida State National Guard Rifle championship; three National Rifle Association National titles; set two National Rifle Association Jr. National records and tied a perfect score World Record.
Alfie & Christine
1972 Set a two man National Rifle Association Jr. Smallbore Prone Record
1973 as member of Satellite High Schools four-man team won the National Rifle Association High School Smallbore postal 3 positional Team National Title
Alfie
1975 Tied the 50-meter small bore Rifle World Record with a perfect 40 out of 40 shots.
Christine
1973 was selected to compete in the World Game final team selection event at Black Canyon Arizona.
She qualified as first alternate setting a National Women’s Prone Smallbore Record at 50 meters.
Arlene & Alfie
1974 along with two Florida State National Guard Members captured the state Smallbore National Guard Championsip
1975 shot on the winning 4 man National Rifle Association 10 meter National Air Rifle Championship Team setting still another National Rifle Association National Record.
Alfie’s accomplishments, along with his World Record, qualified him for the 1975 Olympic Trials held at Black Canyon, Arizona.
Christine and Alfie went on to Western Kentucky University on a Marksmanship Shooting Scholarship.
Arlene competed for the FIT ROTC Rifle Team in Melbourne.
In addition to the above title, the Carlsen family competed in many local and State events from 1967 through 1991.
In 1991 Christine won the Women’s State Prone Title.
The Carlsen’s moved to Satellite Beach in 1962. They remain active in the community with business ties and involvement in Recreation Activities.
