2007 - Little League Opening Day is a colorful display of the many volunteer hours made by parents.  Volunteers are the steam engine that drives our successful seaside community.

Factoid:  During the National youth softball championship tournaments hosted by the City in the 1970s and 1980s, there was a standing joke about the “million dollar” grounds crews who kept the heavily-used fields in playing condition.  Many of the volunteer groundskeepers were highly paid technical personnel working on the space program who took time off to support the softball tournaments.  Today there are dozens of Satellite Beach community organizations and youth sport groups, all of which are managed by volunteers sharing a common interest and promoting civic endeavors.

BIRTHDAY EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:

Birthday Celebration and Grand Re-opening of Pelican Beach Park:  Our beautiful Pelican Beach Park will be the site of a City Birthday Event celebrating the actual Satellite Beach incorporation that occurred on August 3, 1957.  The casual evening’s activities will highlight the outstanding community efforts that were undertaken by the Community Redevelopment Agency and Advisory Committee to renovate the park.  Meet with family and friends at 5:00 p.m., dedication at 6:00 p.m., music, food and fun continues until dusk.
