Factoids:  The original Hedgecock subdivision, Michigan Beach, was platted for 108 single-family homes and 15 commercial lots.  In comparison, the Montecito subdivision has 819 living units: 127 single-family, 298 townhouse, and 394 multi-family.

Shine and Hub Hedgecock and Jimmy Caudle spent about one month building the “satellite.”  It took several months more, every night, to move wind cups around so the satellite would turn.  The men’s wives bought all the talcum powder they could find in Brevard County.  They placed the powder in a hole and, with a little bit of dynamite they detonated it as the “satellite” tower was being raised.  The resulting white cloud covered the crowd and smelled good.
