50th Birthday Celebration

The City of Satellite Beach celebrates its 50^th birthday in 2007.  The City is not just a municipal government or buildings; the City is those who live here and earn their livelihood here.  We hope everyone will enter into the spirit of the year, enjoying what we have, looking back to how it came to be, and looking ahead to what the City is to become.  The celebration goes beyond a single event.  Each month will bring different activities for all to enjoy.  In addition to advertising special events, this web site provides access to documents providing insight into past chapters of the City’s story.

Welcome to "ourstory".  History is about someone else; ourstory is about us, where we came from, how we got here, and who led the way.  Stay awhile, look around, and see if you like and enjoy what you find.  Satellite Beach is a special place because of what – and who – has come before. 

The story is incomplete.  If you have or know of a part not represented here, please let us know.  Use the Contact Us link to email us, or visit or call City Hall.  An old document or photo, or an interesting story, can add a great deal, either filling in a blank or opening a new chapter.  Who would think a faded, dog-eared map found on a top shelf in a closet when packing to move out of a home would be the earliest known map to identify Satellite Beach?  Or a ragged old scrapbook would contain the only known copy of the first edition of the City’s newsletter, the Beachcaster?
